Located in the José Falcão Square, the old Praça da Palha (Palha Square), was built in 1904, by intervention of the Commission of Pastures. It consists of 2 twin tanks and in its surroundings are 16 stone marks. It served as a municipal washhouse in the first decades of the 20th century.
It was part of a plan of plumbing, which included the fountain da Cruz - receiving the flow of the same spring - and fountain das Freiras, which was due to António Isidoro de Sousa and his brother Eng. José Fernando de Sousa.
