He had three brothers who professed in the same brotherhood - Companhia de Jesus: João Cardim, Diogo Cardim, who was a missionaire in India and António Francisco Cardim, who was a missionary in India and Japan. He also had five sisters that were professed nuns: Sister Isabel de São Francisco, who professed at the monastery of Bom Jesus in Viana do Alentejo and Sister Francisca da Trindade who also professed at the same monastery, instants before passing away; Lady Inês de Andrade, Lady Serafina de Andrade and Lady Leonor Froes, nuns at the convent of Santa Clara in Portalegre. He had another sister, Lady Maria Cardim de Andrade, who married Diogo Marmeleiro de Noronha in Coimbra, born in this town and a nobleman of the Royal House.
He died as a sexton in the house of Nossa Senhora da Luz that belonged to the Order of Christ.
