He took a bachelor’s degree in canons in 1708.
Along his judiciary carrer he was appointed “Juiz de Fora” (a judge in charge of the local administration of a municipality) of Alandroal (1709), ombudsman in Vila Viçosa (1715), inspector judge of crime in the S. Paulo bairro (1723), general superintendent of the “décimas” (1726), associate judge of the court of appeal in Oporto (1734) and crime ombudsman of the Casa da Suplicação (1745).
